It may seem counter-intuitive, but silence is not ideal for baby sleep. While inside the womb, babies are enveloped with sounds from their mother's body. As a result, most babies, especially newborns, respond positively to a soothing sound. 

This sound machine offers a calm “shushing” sound that mimics a sound an adult would make. 

It is battery operated for easy travel, volume adjustable and can be set at different timer intervals.
